Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough

After the jubilation of Joe obtaining his place at Falmouth University the reality starts to dawn.  Over the next few weeks I need to ensure Joe is equipped to start University.  Whether he is ready or not only time will tell and is largely down to him.  I just need to make sure that the transition to Uni life and of course to his new accommodation is as comfortable and as smooth as possible.

Thankfully, Georgina has the maturity and the added experience of her time at Cardiff last year.  Georgina had already reserved a student house with her friends last December.  Most of her stuff is already in the house and only Georgina’s clothes need to be transferred.  Georgina will be moving in on 16th September.
Joe has had to start from scratch and will be moving to Falmouth on 15th September.  Our first port of call has been a trip to Ikea.  A trip to Ikea is never great, well for me anyway. The store is just so big and you seem to meander around aimlessly.  Everything is labeled in Swedish, I guess, and you spend so much time trying to guess what the item is and what it does.  Caroline use to love a trip to Ikea and would always bribe Joe with a treat of an Ikea hot dog at the end of the shopping trip, which he fell for every single time.  If I’m honest I used to look forward to the hot dog too and I guess Caroline knew that as well.

Well in short we managed to get most of what we needed and just topped up with a visit to Tesco.  Joe was fairly enthused and engaged which is very unusual for him when shopping.  I think the presence of his girlfriend Eve made the difference.  Interestingly I wasn’t the only dad doing “university shopping” and I kept eyeing up their trollies to make sure I didn’t miss anything.  We have bought stuff that deep down I don’t think Joe will ever use but I want to be seen as a good parent and doing the right thing.    Next step is to get Joe togged-up at Topman!
